Welcome
Hi! My name is Anne Lohmeijer. I’m a data / platform / DevOps / software engineer with a background in particle physics.
I have 6+ years of experience in the data and ML realm, across multiple industries. Key strengths: software and API development, CICD, DevOps, distributed computing, containerisation, Infrastructure as code, cloud computing.
Experiences
Data platform engineer in one of the platform teams that maintain the advanced analytics data platform. Shared responsibilities:
- build the API that manages user access for data on the advanced analytics data platform
- build a paved road for integrating data from Confluent Kafka to the platform
- maintain Unity Catalog
- operational duties
Tech stack: Python (FastAPI), Azure, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Terraform, Github, Docker.
Platform engineer in the enablement team of Strategy & Innovation, which provides engineering teams with the infra required for their application.
- Key player in setting up the Azure cloud infrastructure for implementation of OpenAI’s ChatGPT within the bank. Within 6 weeks went from start to multi-stage, scalable application.
- On a daily basis responsible for setting up infra for applications: storage, compute, networking, monitoring, governance, DevOps, CI/CD.
Tools: Terraform, Docker, Gitlab, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS.
Projects
- Played a key role in productionizing the first advanced analytics use case on the data science production platform (K8s cluster) of the bank: a highly scalable emailclassifier that has been deployed to several departments with Operations. Responsible for the MLE part of the models in production.
- Developed and published several internal NLP modules to handle and process text data.
- Responsible for the technical effort of productionizing a transaction alert model in the Detecting Financial Crime department.
- Leading the technical effort of productionizing a document classifier at scale. Classified over 3 million documents / more than 5TB of data in batch mode. This helped ABN AMRO complying to ECB regulations.
- Lead generation project based on automatic detection of credit needs. Resulted in over 10M euros in loans.
- Co-leading the team in becoming technically mature (coding standards, best practices, ways of working, etc.)
- Active role in the MLOps community within the bank.
- Mentoring several juniors in the team.
Concepts: CICD, MLOps, IaC, containerisation.
Tools: Spark, Python, Azure, MLflow, Databricks, Terraform, Gitlab, Kubernetes.
GUTS Tickets is a ticketing company that provides event ticketing on the blockchain. My responsibilities consisted of data analysis and Python development on a Raspberry Pi. Started as a part-time job next to my studies and continued as full-time job.
Tech stack: Python, Docker, Gitlab.
Data analytics in Excel/VBA. This was a part-time (20hrs/week) job next to my academic degrees.
Projects
Little Lions Child Coaching is a Cape Town-based NGO that provides mental health workshops to children in townships in South Africa and Kenya. I started Digital Lions: a private web app that enables local staff to provide and gather insights in attendance data. Within nine months we went from scratch to a live application (app.littlelionschildcoaching.com), with multiple environments. To date, I have spent roughly 400 hours on this.
- Public code: Github organization with repository
- System design and implementation
- database (Postgres)
- API (FastAPI)
- user management, RBAC (OAuth with Auth0).
- DevOps: containerisation (Docker), CICD, networking (domain administration), security
Education
Focus areas: numerical algorithms, information theory, agent-based modelling, scientific visualization, computational finance.
Intensive (30 hrs/week), technical 10-week bootcamp focused on smart contract engineering and Web3 topics:
- Solidity, Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), and dApp development
- Advanced concepts like opcodes, liquidity pools, and bytecode compilation.
Capstone project: Bricks on GitHub
Modules: neural networks, quantum field theory, elementary particle physics, advanced cosmology.
Master thesis in Monte Carlo analysis on specific particle decay in CERN’s LHCb group.
